Dirt City Sanctuary is proud to announce our 1st Annual Kickball Tournament Fundraiser on Saturday July 28, 2018 in Grand Rapids, MI at Huff Park! This is a one-day charity kickball tourney with proceeds to benefit Dirt City Sanctuary, an organization leading the fight to end the cycle of addiction and homelessness.

This is a community event and open to the public. Children and family spectators are encouraged to join us for a day of fun! Spectators get in free of charge! We will offer concessions, food trucks, a 50/50 raffle, face painting, DCS t-shirt sales, most outrageous fan costume award, most outrageous player costume award and lots more! Welcome, Kickballers! Join us for a great time and a great cause! All levels welcome! Must be 16+ to play. 10v10 team format. Each team must have a minimum of 3 female players in lineup with no more than 6 males allowed in field.

Cost: $25 a player/ $200 for a 10 man team/Team Sponsorship and 10 Man Team Representing Your Organization or Business-$350
Uniforms: T-Shirts are included in the cost, accessorize to show your team flair!

The email address that the captain or single player submits on the official roster form will be used to send information regarding schedules, rules, policies, and procedures at least 48 hours before the start of the tournament.

The Basics

All kickball games are played at Huff Park. Tournament play is scheduled in a traditional double-elimination format with every team guaranteed at least two games. All members of the winning team will receive DCS Championship Prize.

General organizational rules include the following: Each game will run: 1) one hour, 2) seven innings, 3) 10-run mercy rule after five innings or 4) 15-run mercy rule after three innings. The mercy rule will be not be in affect for the championship game(s).

General playing rules include the following: Teams will pitch to the opposing team and the ball must be pitched underhand. Each kicker will be pitched only three pitches — walks are not permitted and a foul on the kicker’s third pitch will be called an out.

An out will be called for any forced play, caught fly ball or anytime the ball hits the runner at or below the shoulder either off an offensive kick or a throw by a defensive player.

Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. The following behaviors will result in a warning and the possibility of a game ejection and subsequent expulsion: cursing at the officials, supervisors, or opposing players; insulting the officials, supervisors, or opposing players. Participating in a fight will result in an automatic ejection. Participants ejected from a game are prohibited in playing in their next TWO scheduled games.

We provide refs, all the game equipment so all you need to do is show up ready to play!

In the event that we are unable to play due to inclement weather, refunds will be issued for the event.

DCS is excite to announce Meghan Thornton Yoga Guru Extraordinaire will be at our Community Kickball Tournament July 28th! Meghan will have an informational tent at the tournament were you can learn about mindfulness and yoga, particularly as it relates to well being! Kids’ Food Basket

DCS is excited to announce that Kids’ Food Basket will have an informational booth at our kickball tournament July 28th! Kids Food Basket will offer a lunch bag decorating station for kids of all ages to decorate! The decorated bags will be used for Kids’ Basket’s Sack Suppers. What is a Sack Supper? It is a free, well-balanced evening meal full of nutritious food delivered to children so that they can perform their best. Sack Suppers are distributed within classrooms at the end of each school day and during summer programs too, meaning every child in needs can get one easily and safely. Kids’ Food Basket serves children who attend schools where 70% or more of the student population receive free or reduced-cost lunch. The Grand Rapids Red Project

The Grand Rapids Red Project will host an informational tent for the community. The Grand Rapids Red Project is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to improving health, reducing risk, and preventing HIV.
